Pregnancy Care

Your first antenatal visit will usually be between 8 to 10 weeks of gestation, where we will discuss your past pregnancy and medical history in detail. We will also confirm your due date and this may involve a bedside ultrasound scan. We will arrange for routine blood tests, and anatomy scans, and discuss genetic screening should you wish to proceed with this.

Throughout the pregnancy, we will be discussing your birth preferences, and I will be there to answer any questions you may have.

In general, visits are monthly until 28 weeks gestation, 2-3 weekly until 36 weeks, and then weekly until birth. Visits may be more frequent if your pregnancy is high risk, or if you have any concerns.

Approximately one week after birth, you will receive a home visit from one of our Specialist Midwives and accredited Lactation Consultants to make sure you and baby are settling in. I will also be seeing you for a postnatal visit at 6 to 8 weeks after birth.
